This is my color story:
My son asks me often, almost on a daily basis, “Mom, what’s your favorite color?” It’s become one of our favorite little moments – he knows that my answer often changes. This was something my Hubs learned early in our relationship; my favorite color would be seasonal back then. It all started with lilac, which was “my favorite color of this spring season.” I’m currently in my beige season, which sounds very plain and boring, like how vanilla, right? But I’m actually loving it – wearing cute tanks with a good blue stripe or even a tropical pattern on linen pants for the summer & I’m looking forward to mixing it with all the different washes of denim in the cooler temps. (We don’t really have winter here in sunny Florida, but you better believe we dress like we’re in the Arctic once the daily high drops to around 63degrees or so) But I digress, where was I?
So my son will sometimes try and guess my favorite color for the day, and green is always a safe bet. I do looove a good green. Blue is also in the top tier, and so is pink. It’s really a tough question to answer! Then it turns into him picking on me because I once answered, “sunset.” He doesn’t think sunset is a color, but I wouldn’t know any other way to describe it. When the sky turns pink that washes into orange and that deep blue of the ocean as the sun falls below the horizon. Yes, I realize I just listed 3 different colors, but I feel like naming only one of them wouldn’t do it justice. A great sunset is just magical, and something that I love dearly.
All these things led to the colors I chose here, the online home On Shady Grove. Our home is actually surrounded by Live Oaks irl, but the Orange Blossom is our state flower – so I thought that was a sweet (and tangy) starting point. In comes that touch of sunset pink, and I couldn’t leave out a soft sunny yellow or a misty blue. It really is a tough decision to nail down! Comment below and let me know, what’s your favorite color? Or list 2 or 3, no judgement 🙂
